Originario de Orizaba, Veracruz en el Otoño del 45, desde su niñez, incursiona en la acuarela bajo la influencia de Siqueiros, Álvaro Carrillo Gil y el maestro Castro Pacheco, ganado un primer concurso a nivel nacional a los 12 años de edad. Cursa la carrera de Arquitecto en la UNAM (63-68) y ejerce un amplio desarrollo en el campo del diseño y el proyecto arquitectónico con obras en la República Mexicana, además de ser profesor de Diseño en varias Universidades del país. En el 94, crea una nueva y revolucionaria técnica pictórica dando pauta al nacimiento y creación de la “Colección Gamma Internacional”, concursando en el 98 con “HAMACA” en el premio Firenze, obteniendo un cuarto lugar y lo ubica en el 99 para la exposición de la BIENAL INTERNACIONAL DE FLORENCIA en Italia con mención de la obra “Reflexiones II”
Con su participación en exposiciones colectivas e individuales en Cancún, México D.F. Miami e Italia, Martell ha tenido grandes reconocimientos debido a la riqueza temática de su obra, calificada como una abstracción del arte figurativo, que regala un placer óptico y háptico, logrando un homenaje a la alegría de vivir y un renacimiento de espíritu.
Jorge Carlos Martell Correa, native of Orizaba, Veracruz, born in the fall of the 45’, ventured during his early childhood into the artistic technique of watercolor, influenced and guided by renowned artists Siqueiros, Alvaro Carrillo Gil and Master Castro Pacheco, he achieved prominently at the age of 12 the first place on a national competition. Martell studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (U.N.A.M.) graduating with a degree in architecture, professing a grand development within the fields of design and architectural projection, with masterworks throughout the country, in addition to being professor of design at several universities of Mexico. In 1994 he creates a revolutionary new painting technique, giving birth to the pattern of the International Gamma Series, with the theme “Hamaca” from his unique collection he participates in the 1998 International Firenze contest, acquiring the 4th place which would place him for exhibition in the 1999 Biennale Internazionale di Firenze taking place in Florence, Italy, with reference of his masterpiece “Reflexiones II” and his participation in collective and solo expositions throughout Cancun, Mexico City, Miami and Italy.
Martell has attained great recognition and appreciation due to the thematic richness of his work, described as an abstraction of figurative art, providing a visual and haptical pleasure which accomplishes a tribute to the joy of life and spirit.
